Mother's Day Is Coming. Thinking of My Mom.

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and I will miss my mother who passed away 8 years ago.  Carolyn Rider was the quintessential 1950’s mother.  We didn’t have fast food back then – it was the dawn of the TV dinner that was a ‘treat’ for all of us once a week.  We ate in front of the television, watching Sea Hunt, My Three Sons, or Donna Reed (who was a beautiful, lovely, wife and mother---as was my mother).

My mother was a very loving grandma to her 7 grandchildren. Our first Mothers’ Day without our mother and grandmother, my daughter Jenny came up to Seattle for a visit.  We were in a gift store that Sunday that was filled with bluebird gifts- my mother collected them.  Then we heard my mothers’ favorite song, “I’ll Be Seeing You”, over the speakers in the store.  Jenny and I looked at each other and had a good cry and reminisced about the wonderful lady who had made such a big impact on our lives.

Yes, your mother was a lovely person. We still have our mother - she just turned 95. Nice to find your website. Happy Mother's Day & God's blessing too. Kathy (& Mark) Haymaker Evans

I remember cheese sandwiches and Popsicles after a good day of playing. Kick the can in the evening down the dead end street...
