I love this sentiment!  Those well-positioned wrinkle lines are a wonderful gift for a life well-lived and well-loved.

Autumn is in the air in Gig Harbor, Washington!  We’re enjoying warm, sunny days (80 degrees), and cool, crisp nights (great for sleeping!).  

On Labor Day weekend, we met friends visiting from San Diego, and enjoyed salmon for lunch at Pike Place Market.  Bouquets of flowers and colorful fruits and vegetables lined the aisles, artisans were selling their wares, jazz musicians were singing in front of “THE FIRST” (tad da!) Starbucks, and ferry boats were coming and going from Elliot Bay with the Olympic Mountains as a backdrop.  

I love being in the Northwest, and for once I heard someone from San Diego say, “What a great place to live, you’re so fortunate”.  I’m inspired to get back to creating new designs for Olive Sandwiches’ 2013 calendars (Yes, I said 2013).  Deadline to have them done is by the end of September.  I was inspired by all the positive energy I soaked up from all the happy people I am encountering.  

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and I will miss my mother who passed away 8 years ago.  Carolyn Rider was the quintessential 1950’s mother.  We didn’t have fast food back then – it was the dawn of the TV dinner that was a ‘treat’ for all of us once a week.  We ate in front of the television, watching Sea Hunt, My Three Sons, or Donna Reed (who was a beautiful, lovely, wife and mother---as was my mother).

My mother was a very loving grandma to her 7 grandchildren. Our first Mothers’ Day without our mother and grandmother, my daughter Jenny came up to Seattle for a visit.  We were in a gift store that Sunday that was filled with bluebird gifts- my mother collected them.  Then we heard my mothers’ favorite song, “I’ll Be Seeing You”, over the speakers in the store.  Jenny and I looked at each other and had a good cry and reminisced about the wonderful lady who had made such a big impact on our lives.

One of my favorites is ‘Vanilla Delight’, inspired by my favorite lotion, Trish McAvoy #9.  We mix just the right amount of French Vanilla, Black Raspberry (instead of blackberry), and Egyption Musk.  It’s FABULOUS!

We have 3 more candle scents…. ‘Cool Cucumber’ (Cucumber and Mint), ‘Lush Lavender’ (Lavender and White Sage), and ‘Citrus Surprise’ (It’s a surprise so you’ll have to try one J).

We use soy wax, cotton wicks, and essential oils to give you the best natural product to combine with our funny phrases.
